Sense Knowledge -Vs- Revelation Knowledge

We have been bombarded with snow in the Northeast this winter haven’t we (2014 – 2015)? Many of my neighbors and I were out shoveling snow at the same time on many occasions. During the tail end of one of these storms, Steve (not his real name) said to me, “When you’re dead, you’re dead.”

Many natural people, have a world view based only on what they perceive with their physical senses. But is this all we’re limited to? Thankfully, no! In this world we have two types of knowledge.Sense knowledge – we contact the physical world with our bodies central nervous system and it’s physical senses:

  • Sight
  • Hearing
  • Touch
  • Taste
  • Smell

Mankind has been diligent in their search for the meaning of life. Many earnestly desire to know how to operate in this world more effectively. However, they are limited because they are operating in their physical senses alone. Many have atheistic view points because of their inability to know and contact God. Paul says in 1 Cor. 2:14 (ESV) “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

Revelation knowledge – can only be obtained by our recreated spirits from the inspired word of God (the Bible).

As spiritual believers in Christ we are not limited to what we see, hear, touch, taste, or smell. Jesus has told us “I will ask the Father, and He will send you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows Him. You know Him, for he dwells with you and will be in you (John 14:16-17).”

How does the Lord reveal himself, and teach us? It is through God’s word (the Bible) and by the Holy Spirit. The things of God are spiritually discerned. The Lord has promised to be with us, to be our guide, our deliverer, our shepherd, our teacher. We see in John 14:26 “…the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all I have said to you.”

Conclusion

What are you relying on to get through your life? Are you relying on sense knowledge? Or you assessing life through the word of God, and revelation knowledge? How do you get revelation knowledge? Wait on the Lord. Think about what He has said in the Bible. Read it as a love letter to you.

Pray in tongues, your heavenly prayer language, and in the natural. Prayerfully ask for the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal to you His truths. As believers we are not limited to our physical senses, and sense knowledge alone. We have the privilege of being taught by the blessed Holy Spirit. Through His guidance we can have revelation knowledge. Which is much better.
